The Treatment
What massage actually is: and who it's for.
What it is
We offer three families of massage. Classic massage covers Swedish, back, neck and shoulder, and full body work for relaxation and general tension. Therapeutic massage covers deeper, more targeted work for specific muscular problems, sports recovery and long-standing tightness. Heat massage uses hot stones to warm tissue before deeper work, which lets us reach tension that would otherwise be too uncomfortable to release in a single session.
Who it's for
Desk workers with locked-up necks and shoulders, parents carrying children on one hip, drivers, gardeners, runners and cyclists, people who sleep badly because they cannot switch off, and anyone in Banstead, Cheam, Epsom, Sutton or Coulsdon who wants an hour where nobody needs anything from them.
When it's right
One-off massage helps for a few days. If you have a persistent problem area, a course of three to six sessions spaced one to two weeks apart gives tissue a chance to hold the change. Regular monthly maintenance is what most of our long-standing clients settle into.
Why professional matters
The value in massage is not the oil or the room, it is the therapist noticing that your right shoulder sits higher than your left and working accordingly. We ask before we start, we check pressure during, and we tell you honestly if something we found needs a physiotherapist or GP rather than a massage therapist.
The Cost of Leaving It
What happens when it's left, or done badly.
Neck and shoulder tension from screen work does not resolve on its own. It compounds, and by the time it turns into headaches you have usually been carrying it for months.
Generic chain-salon massage delivered to a script, same pressure, same routine, same twenty-minute back sequence for every client, is why so many people conclude that massage does not work for them.
Too much pressure too soon does not release anything. It makes the muscle guard, and you leave sore rather than loose.
Poor sleep, low mood and high stress feed each other. Ninety minutes of properly delivered massage will not fix your life, but it reliably breaks the cycle for long enough to sleep properly.
The Precious Moments Method
How we deliver massage, step by step.
-
Step 1
Consultation
We take a short health history, ask about medication, injuries, pregnancy and recent surgery, and identify the two or three areas you actually want addressed.
-
Step 2
Pressure agreement
We agree pressure before we start and check in during the treatment. Deep does not mean painful, and you can change your mind at any point.
-
Step 3
Warm the tissue
Effleurage and, in heat massage, hot stones warm the superficial layers so deeper work is possible without the muscle guarding against it.
-
Step 4
Targeted work
Petrissage, trigger point and stretching techniques on the problem areas, with the rest of the session used to keep the body balanced.
-
Step 5
Aftercare
Water, gentle movement, and simple stretches or positional advice for the areas we worked on, so the benefit lasts longer than the drive home.
What You Actually Get
Specific, measurable benefits.
Real relief from desk tension
Neck, shoulder and upper back work targeted at the specific pattern your job creates, not a generic routine.
Better sleep
Clients very consistently report that the night after a massage is the best sleep of their week.
Faster recovery
Therapeutic and sports-focused work helps clear post-exercise tightness and keeps training consistent.
Hot stone for stubborn tension
Heat lets us work deeper without discomfort, which is ideal for long-standing shoulder and lower back tightness.
Pressure that suits you
From genuinely gentle relaxation through to firm therapeutic work, agreed and adjusted as we go.
A private, quiet room
Closed door, warm couch, no noise from the salon floor. Time that is actually yours.

The Detail
Everything you'd want to know before booking.
Classic massage
Classic Swedish-style massage uses long gliding strokes, kneading and rhythmic pressure to increase circulation and calm the nervous system. It is the right choice if your goal is relaxation, general stiffness, or simply an hour of doing nothing. Back, neck and shoulder sessions are the most-booked treatment in this family because that is where most people hold their day. Full body sessions run longer and are worth booking if your tension is not confined to one region.
Therapeutic and deep tissue massage
Therapeutic massage works more slowly and more specifically, using sustained pressure across the grain of the muscle and on trigger points that refer pain elsewhere. It suits long-standing tightness, postural problems and sports recovery. Deep tissue does not mean maximum pressure: it means working at the depth the tissue will accept. Expect some mild tenderness for a day afterwards, in the same way you would after a good training session.
Hot stone and heat massage
Smooth basalt stones are heated and used both as tools and as static warmth on the back, shoulders and along the spine. The heat increases circulation and softens fascia, which means deeper work becomes comfortable far sooner in the session. It is particularly effective in winter, for clients who feel the cold, and for anyone whose shoulders never quite let go under conventional massage.
Foot and hand massage
Foot and hand massage is often underestimated. Feet carry your entire day, and hands are permanently in use on keyboards, steering wheels and phones. These focused sessions use pressure-point work across the soles, arches and heels, or through the palms, fingers and wrists, and are an excellent option if you are not comfortable undressing for a body massage or you are short on time.
When massage is not the right answer
We will not massage over acute injury, undiagnosed pain, active infection, recent surgery without medical clearance, or areas affected by blood clots. If we find something during a treatment that seems out of scope, we will say so and suggest you see a GP or physiotherapist. Being clear about the limits of what we do is part of doing it properly. We are beauty and complementary therapists, not clinicians, and we do not diagnose.
How we plan massage at Precious Moments.
A good result is not created by the treatment name alone. It is created by the consultation, the suitability check, the order of treatments, the settings used, the aftercare followed and the consistency of the course. That is why every massage client starts with a conversation about medical history, previous treatments, medication, skin behaviour, lifestyle, upcoming events and the result they actually want. If another treatment would deliver the outcome more safely or more directly, we say so before you spend money.
The clinic works from 6 Eastgate in Banstead, so repeated appointments are realistic for clients travelling from Cheam, Epsom, Ewell, Sutton, Coulsdon, Kingswood, Chipstead and Tattenham. That matters because most meaningful aesthetic results are not single-visit miracles. They come from a correct sequence: the first appointment establishes the baseline, the middle appointments build the result, and the review appointment decides whether maintenance, a top-up or a different layer of treatment is the sensible next step.
Pricing is kept live on Treatwell so clients are not reading old figures on the website. Course value is built into the clinic model: buy a course of six and receive the seventh treatment free; buy eight and receive ten. Repeat-course Early Bird offers and the loyalty stamp scheme can reduce the cost further for clients who already know they want an ongoing skin, laser or body plan. A deposit is required to secure booking, and appointments can be rescheduled without charge outside the 48-hour window.
Safety is documented rather than assumed. Precious Moments is fully insured, council-registered for skin-piercing and semi-permanent make-up procedures, and uses licensed clinical-waste disposal for sharps and treatment waste. Practitioners hold NVQ Level 2 and Level 3 beauty qualifications, with additional advanced training across laser, skin needling, radio frequency, injectables, oncology massage and Dermalux LED protocols. That combination gives each appointment a clear structure: assess, treat, record, advise and review.
Suitability before sales
If massage is not the right route for your skin, body or timetable, we will redirect the plan rather than forcing the booking.
Local course consistency
Regular attendance is easier from a Banstead clinic with clear opening hours, WhatsApp support and a small team who remember your treatment history.
Aftercare that protects results
You leave with practical instructions on heat, exercise, actives, SPF, makeup, swimming or massage restrictions where relevant: not vague advice.

Classic and heat massages start from £32.30, therapeutic massages from £37.40, and foot and hand massages from £44. Durations and the full menu are live on Treatwell.
Which massage should I book?
+
For relaxation and general tension, book classic. For a specific problem area or sports recovery, book therapeutic. For stubborn tightness that never seems to release, book hot stone.
Will deep tissue massage hurt?
+
It should feel like productive pressure, not pain. We agree pressure at the start and check during. If it is too much, say so and we adjust immediately.
How often should I have a massage?
+
For a specific problem, three to six sessions one to two weeks apart. For maintenance, most regular clients come monthly.
Can I have a massage while pregnant?
+
Please tell us at booking. There are stages and conditions where we will decline or adapt the treatment, and in some cases we will ask for clearance from your midwife or GP first.
What should I wear?
+
You will be asked to undress to your underwear for body massage and are covered with towels throughout, with only the area being worked on exposed. For foot and hand massage you stay fully dressed.
Will I be sore afterwards?
+
After deeper work, mild tenderness for 24 to 48 hours is normal. Drink plenty of water, keep moving gently and avoid heavy training that same day.
Can I book a massage as a gift?

Yes. Gift vouchers can be bought online and used against any treatment on the menu, including massage.
Do you offer couples or double bookings?
+
Availability depends on room and therapist scheduling. Call or WhatsApp 07457 404213 and we will tell you honestly what we can do on the day you want.
What is your cancellation policy?
+
A deposit is required to book. Cancellations outside 48 hours can be rescheduled free of charge.
