What it is

Why professional matters

Piercing is a skin-piercing medical procedure that is specifically regulated by local councils in England. Precious Moments is registered for skin-piercing procedures, holds full insurance, uses licensed clinical waste bins for sharps, and works with sterile single-use equipment, the exact opposite of a shopping-centre kiosk staffed by teenagers with a spring gun.

Unregulated piercing, shopping-centre kiosks, mobile 'piercers' and social-media DMs, accounts for a large proportion of infected and mis-placed piercings we see clients trying to correct.

A badly placed cartilage or helix piercing can result in a lifelong scar, granuloma or asymmetry. Cartilage doesn't forgive.

Cheap 'gold-tone' jewellery and poor-quality studs cause a huge proportion of piercing rejection, migration and contact dermatitis. What goes into the fresh piercing matters as much as where the hole goes.

Poor aftercare, especially rotating a fresh piercing, using antiseptic disinfectants meant for open wounds, and swimming too soon, extends healing from weeks to months and dramatically increases infection risk.

First and additional lobe piercings, upper lobe, helix, forward helix, tragus, conch, rook and daith (subject to anatomy), nostril and body piercings appropriate to the clinical environment. We do not perform oral or intimate piercings. Age policies apply and vary by site: please ask at consultation.

Regulation, hygiene and safety

Precious Moments is registered with the local council for skin-piercing procedures and for semi-permanent make-up. Every piercing tool, needle or applicator is single-use and disposed of via licensed clinical waste bins. Every treatment room follows strict clinical hygiene between clients.

Healing and jewellery changes

Healing times vary by site: lobes typically 6–8 weeks; cartilage frequently 6–12 months. First jewellery changes should be timed to the healing site, not to your holiday. We will always advise you honestly, if you want a specific piece of jewellery in by a date, we'll tell you whether that's realistic.

When we won't pierce

We will decline or postpone a piercing if you are unwell, pregnant (for certain sites), pierced too recently in the same area, or if the anatomy doesn't support the position you want. Declining a piercing is a mark of a properly-run clinic: not a marketing weakness.

A good result is not created by the treatment name alone. It is created by the consultation, the suitability check, the order of treatments, the settings used, the aftercare followed and the consistency of the course. That is why every piercing clinic client starts with a conversation about medical history, previous treatments, medication, skin behaviour, lifestyle, upcoming events and the result they actually want. If another treatment would deliver the outcome more safely or more directly, we say so before you spend money.

A deposit is required to secure booking, and appointments can be rescheduled without charge outside the 48-hour window.

Safety is documented rather than assumed. Precious Moments is fully insured, council-registered for skin-piercing and semi-permanent make-up procedures, and uses licensed clinical-waste disposal for sharps and treatment waste. Practitioners hold NVQ Level 2 and Level 3 beauty qualifications, with additional advanced training across laser, skin needling, radio frequency, injectables, oncology massage and Dermalux LED protocols. That combination gives each appointment a clear structure: assess, treat, record, advise and review.
