What it is

A skin scanner complexion analysis uses imaging to look beneath the visible surface of the skin and reveal what your mirror does not: sub-surface pigmentation, sun damage, hydration levels, congestion, oil distribution and areas of redness. We then sit down with you and translate what the scan shows into a plain-English plan: what to treat first, what to treat later and what does not need treating at all.

When it's right

Before you commit to any course of treatment, and ideally six to twelve months before a major event. It is also worth repeating annually, or at a natural change point such as a new medication, a house move or a change in hormones.

What the scanner shows

Surface-level assessment tells you what you can already see in the mirror. Imaging goes further: it highlights melanin distribution below the surface, so pigmentation that has not yet emerged becomes visible; it shows sun damage as a pattern rather than as isolated marks; it measures hydration and identifies where the skin barrier is compromised; and it maps oil distribution and congestion, which is often very different from where clients assume their oily areas are. It also gives a clear view of vascular redness, which matters for anyone with rosacea-type concerns.

Turning a scan into a plan

A scan on its own is just images. The value is in the conversation afterwards. We work through your concerns in order of what bothers you most, cross-reference that with what the scan shows, and set a sequence. Congestion and hydration usually come first because they respond quickly and improve how everything else looks. Pigmentation is a longer project measured in months. Texture and fine lines sit somewhere in between. You get the sequence, the costs and the honest timescale for each.

Home care is most of the result

Whatever we do in clinic, you spend far more time with your skin than we do. A well-chosen, consistent routine of cleanser, active, moisturiser and daily SPF will outperform sporadic treatments with no home care every single time. We stock Dermalogica and NOON Aesthetics, but the recommendation comes from the scan, and there is no obligation to buy anything on the day.

Why a baseline matters

Skin improves slowly. When change happens over three months at a rate of a fraction of a percent a day, you genuinely cannot perceive it, which is why clients often conclude nothing is happening halfway through an effective course. Re-scanning gives you a like-for-like comparison against your starting point and takes the argument out of it. It also lets us adjust: if one area has responded and another has not, we change the plan rather than repeating it.

No obligation, no pressure

The consultation is a paid, standalone service, which is deliberate. It means we are not using it as a sales appointment. You are welcome to take the plan away and think about it, book elsewhere, or do nothing at all. Plenty of clients leave with a recommendation to fix their SPF habit and simplify their routine before spending anything on treatment, and that is a perfectly good outcome.

A good result is not created by the treatment name alone. It is created by the consultation, the suitability check, the order of treatments, the settings used, the aftercare followed and the consistency of the course. That is why every skin analysis & consultation client starts with a conversation about medical history, previous treatments, medication, skin behaviour, lifestyle, upcoming events and the result they actually want. If another treatment would deliver the outcome more safely or more directly, we say so before you spend money.

Course value is built into the clinic model: buy a course of six and receive the seventh treatment free; buy eight and receive ten. Repeat-course Early Bird offers and the loyalty stamp scheme can reduce the cost further for clients who already know they want an ongoing skin, laser or body plan. A deposit is required to secure booking, and appointments can be rescheduled without charge outside the 48-hour window.

Safety is documented rather than assumed. Precious Moments is fully insured, council-registered for skin-piercing and semi-permanent make-up procedures, and uses licensed clinical-waste disposal for sharps and treatment waste. Practitioners hold NVQ Level 2 and Level 3 beauty qualifications, with additional advanced training across laser, skin needling, radio frequency, injectables, oncology massage and Dermalux LED protocols. That combination gives each appointment a clear structure: assess, treat, record, advise and review.
